Find Your Week
I want to discover on my own terms.
Written for the traveller who likes their own company and their own timing. A private house instead of a hotel corridor, a neighbourhood instead of a lobby, and a Peninsula compact enough to explore properly rather than tick off.
The week is a suggestion in the loosest sense: a rhythm of one real outing a day, with the mornings and evenings yours. Safe, easy to navigate, and full of places where eating alone at the bar is the normal thing to do.

Day by day
Learn the hill first.
Unpack, then walk down to Glencairn Beach and along the shore until you feel like turning around. Supper at home from the basics, or the bar at a Simon's Town restaurant. Early night, curtains open for the light.
Turn it up: the longer coastal walk towards Fish Hoek and back by the road.

A town that rewards the slow reader.
Coffee on Jubilee Square, then the harbour, the naval museum, the side streets up the hill. Lunch on your own terms. In the afternoon, the tidal pool, and the reading room if the wind comes up.
Turn it up: a guided kayak along the coast, a good way to meet a few people without committing to them.

A full day at the end of the world.
Leave early with the coast road empty. Cape Point takes a whole day if you let it: the walks, the lighthouse, the beaches on the far side. Come home through Scarborough with the windows down. Dinner at home, tired in the right way.
Turn it up: add the longer Cape of Good Hope trail, three hours of coast on foot.

Silence, with a view.
Silvermine in the morning: the reservoir loop, or one of the ridge paths if you want more. Lunch in Kalk Bay, then the bookshops and an unhurried afternoon. Back to the balcony for the last light.
Turn it up: the full Silvermine to Kalk Bay ridge walk, with a taxi home.

Wildlife, then nothing.
Boulders Beach early for the penguins, before it gets busy. A long lunch in Simon's Town, then an afternoon deliberately unplanned: the tidal pool, a massage at the Residence, a book. This is the day people skip and regret.
Turn it up: a surf lesson at Muizenberg in the afternoon instead.

Make the road the point.
Noordhoek's beach for a morning walk, Chapman's Peak slowly, lunch in Hout Bay. On the way back, Cape Point Vineyards for a tasting and the sunset. Dinner at home.
Turn it up: a horse ride on Noordhoek Beach before the drive.

Go back to the one you liked.
By now you have a favourite. Do it again, properly, then a last dinner at the bar in Kalk Bay or Simon's Town where they now know your name. Pack in the morning.
Turn it up: a dawn swim, then the coast road at first light.
